Vitamin C Serum
Vitamin C Serum 15% and 20% options 30 ml
New Airless Pumps! This change should improve the application process and further protect this very sensitive serum from oxidation.
- Anti-aging, dark spots, uneven skin tone, oxidative stress
- All skin types
- The acidity of Ascorbic Acid (L) in our Vitamin C Serum will chemically exfoliate and promote skin rejuvenation.
- Promotes elasticity and collagen synthesis, reduces free radicals formed by the sun and helps eliminate the formation of dark spots.
- Vitamin C Serum can be purchased in premixed 15% for more sensitive skin types, and 20% for normal skin types.
- Read Dr. Sivak’s blog about Vitamin C HERE.
- Note: Due to 20% being the maximum solubility of ascorbic acid, the solution is completely saturated and some ascorbic acid crystals may come out of the serum.
Use will depend on individual tolerance to the acidity of the serum. Test the serum on the inside of your arm first and rinse well if you feel any discomfort. The serum can be diluted with Sea Kelp Coral in order to make it more suitable for sensitive skin.
We recommend applying a thin layer of serum to clean skin once or twice weekly. Vitamin C Serum can be applied on the face, neck, or wherever your skin is in need of exfoliation and renewal, keeping away from the eyes.
Note: Be sure to wear SPF as exfoliation can increase skin sensitivity.
High concentration L-Ascorbic Acid serums, or even fresh L-Ascorbic Acid crystals dissolved in water, are great exfoliating options. Because over-exfoliation can cause inflammation and other problems, we recommend careful use of L-Ascorbic Acid serums. Usage once or twice a week is optimal for most skin types.
Our Collagen Serum with MAP (Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate) is a great alternative for a daily Vitamin C product, as it contains other valuable actives we cannot use in an acidic solution.
Do not worry about waiting for the acidity of the skin to go back to normal (it will take a few hours) before using most other products. If you are using products with complex proteins, such as our EGF or our antioxidant products, it is recommended that you wait at least an hour to ensure the proteins are not damaged.
Water, Ascorbic Acid, Glycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ferulic Acid, Phloretin, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Seed Oil, Tocotrienols, Alpha-D-Tocopherol, Astaxanthin, Lycopene, Lutein, R-Alpha Lipoic Acid, Beta-Carotene, Xanthan Gum, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Juice Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Juice Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Sorbic Acid.
*The Lemon and Orange Extracts in this formula are juice powders. These are not essential oils and do not contain the sensitising properties that some citrus essential oils are known to have.
No miracles here, no miracles with any skincare product, but the stability of this serum and the science behind it assures me that the vitamin C and anti-oxidants are doing their thing - helping to protect against UV damage, free radicals, stimulating collagen and helping to fade pigmentation. Stellar.
While I don't have many skin concerns, My skin definitely obtains some glow with continuous use. I love the fact that it's packed with other potent AOX agents, some of which are clinically proven to boost L-Ascorbic Acid's performance and efficacy in our skin. The texture is watery yet the formula is quite hydrating due to the inclusion of glycerin compared to other serums in the market which uses glycols (great penetration enhancer but may be a bit drying to some). And all of those at a great price point to boot.
I switched to repurchasing my serum from Active Formulas once I found out about them, as well as I've been living in the EU and they're located in the UK. However, it doesn't seem that Active Formulas is going to continue carrying the 15% as the representative of Skin Actives that I've been in communication with informed me that Active Formulas just repurchased the 20% but they didn't put any order for the 15% one.
It is such a disappointing news since I will then have to purchase the 15% from the US and in Luxembourg I will have to pay 80% of the total customs value of the package, but I know for certain my skin would not be able to handle the 20% concentration. How disappointing.
Active Formulas must be congratulated and Rob is very attentive and helpful to customers. I really enjoy using A.F for my skin care. I appreciate they do not test on animals and provide good and safe products. I belief they ought to focus on that and continue on that line to be a successful but also ethical skin care brand. One can feel a lot better knowing that what we apply to our skin has not caused an animal to suffer. This is important to me.
